Praying for the City

“Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; 58 and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.”  NKJV

You have probably learned what Stephen learned—there are some people that are not only not open to the gospel, they are actually hostile to the gospel.  Hopefully you have not experienced the extreme hostile “reception” like Stephen did.  What do we do when people are hostile to the gospel?  Keep in focus that it is the Holy Spirit that opens hearts to the gospel.  Saul was part of this hostile treatment, yet look what happened to him.  He became a strong voice for the gospel.  I believe praying for lost people can cause their hearts to be open and receptive to the gospel.  Don’t give up praying for people who do not know Christ.  Who knows what might happen to that person who is not hostile to the gospel.   They might just be the next Paul.  Keep praying.
