“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." NKJV
This command of Christ was one of the last commands Jesus gave His followers before He left the earth. While all the commands of Christ are important, I think last commands carry a great deal of significance. Jesus knew His followers would not be able to fulfill the mission He had given them without the power of the Spirit. Jesus wanted them to pray and wait in the city for the power of the Spirit. We know from Acts 2 that as a result of that “prayer meeting” 3,000 people were saved and the church was born. What does God want to do in your city? As you pray for your city ask God to open the hearts of people to the gospel message just like what happened on the day of Pentecost. Our prayer needs to be “Do it again, Lord.”
