Read Joshua 21:43-45 – So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lordgave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass. (NKJV)
The day of promise had arrived. Can you imagine what it felt like to realize that they were standing in the fulfillment of a promise that was centuries old? Someday, you’ll know that feeling. The day will come when the amazing promises of God stand fulfilled and we find ourselves in His eternal presence forever and ever. On that day, all our battles will have ceased. All our struggles will be done and the Kingdom we have served will stand before us in complete and final reality. As the old song says, “What a day that will be!” Shouldn’t we live with that day in mind? Perhaps we think of such a future moment as beyond our capacity to comprehend or even a distraction to the enormous work we have to do. But shouldn’t we be serving God in light of the day of fulfillment? Surely Joshua’s generation engaged every battle anticipating the final victory? Shouldn’t we do the same? What will life look like when your battles are finally won? Since we know that final victory will come, how might you celebrate that reality today? Take time today to rejoice in the final chapter that is yet to come and know that even the most difficult battles you are facing will one day melt into peace.
