Read Joshua 18:1-3 – Now the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of meeting there. And the land was subdued before them. But there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes which had not yet received their inheritance. Then Joshua said to the children of Israel: “How long will you neglect to go and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers has given you?” (NKJV)
What are you waiting for? I wonder how often we miss great opportunities because we don’t step up to the challenge. Joshua looks out on over half of the tribes and sees that they haven’t learned to trust God for themselves. Perhaps they are waiting on Joshua to lead all the battles, but that isn’t a legitimate expectation. There are victories to be won and the people should be ready to step out in faith to win them. There are times when you will try and fail, but not trying guarantees that you’ll never achieve victory. Have you ever wondered how often God is waiting for you to move while you think you’re waiting for Him? It’s human nature to stay on the safe ground you know rather than launching out toward the places you don’t. But a life of faith means stepping into the unknown every day. It means going where you’ve never been and trying what you’ve never attempted before. Faith doesn’t mean you have everything figured out, but that you’re trusting God as you step out in new ways.
