Read Matthew 23:34 – Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city. (NKJV)
Persecution does not sound appealing and yet that is one of the things that Jesus warned we would face. So how should we react to persecution? Pray for the city! Jesus instructed us to “pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,” (Matt 5:44). While our persecution in America is more emotional and mental rather than physical, we are still persecuted on many occasions. Pray for the people and entities that persecute you. Who knows, maybe your response to their persecution will help them see that the Jesus who lives in you does make a difference and this may open their hearts to the gospel.
