Read Matthew 23:37 – “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” (NKJV)
In the midst of His teaching, Jesus pauses and cries out to God on behalf of the city of Jerusalem. The holy city was no longer holy. In fact, it had become known as the city that “killed the prophets”. Yet Jesus cries out for the city. What about your town? Your town may not be guilty of killing the prophets, yet most of our towns are filled with sinful people that need Jesus. Your town needs your prayers. Cry out to God on behalf of your city. Unfortunately, we have a tendency to be critics rather than prayer warriors. Instead of criticizing, lift up your town in prayer. Who knows what God will do in your city.
