Prayers of Praise and Thanksgiving

Read Exodus 15:4-5 – Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. The depths have covered them; they sank to the bottom like a stone. (NKJV)

God used Joseph to keep the nation of Egypt from starving to death, yet for over 400 years the descendants of Joseph and his brothers were brutally mistreated by the Egyptians. Now we see Pharaoh and his armies coming under the judgment of God. The results of this judgment were incorporated into this song of praise and thanksgiving to God for delivering His people. I make two observations when I read this passage. First, it is okay to thank God for delivering His people from bondage. Remember that God will always triumph over evil. Second, these people were very specific in their praise. They gave the details on what God had done, not only to thank Him but to share that testimony with others.
