Read Exodus 8:29-30 – Then Moses said, “Indeed I am going out from you, and I will entreat theLord, that the swarms of flies may depart tomorrow from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. But let Pharaoh not deal deceitfully anymore in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.” So Moses went out from Pharaoh and entreated the Lord. (NKJV)
Confidence is an interesting commodity. Moses once resisted the idea of standing before Pharaoh, wondering why the great king would even listen to him. Now he confronts Pharaoh and insists that the king not “deal deceitfully” again. “Don’t lie to me again, Pharaoh,” Moses seems to be saying. When God is with us, we can live confidently. We don’t have to cower from big moments, but we can speak His truth confidently, knowing we are on His side. Peter and John spoke that way before the religious leaders. It didn’t matter that their education couldn’t compete with that of their audience. They knew their words were truth and that God had sent them. So do you! God’s truth and His presence aren’t excuses to act obnoxiously or in pride, but they are reasons to face the world around us with confidence. We know the eternal truths of God’s Word. We can speak them with confidence!
