Wednesdays with Moses

Read Exodus 7:1-4 – So the Lord said to Moses: “See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh, and Aaron your brother shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you. And Aaron your brother shall tell Pharaoh to send the children of Israel out of his land. And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not heed you, so that I may lay My hand on Egypt and bring My armies and My people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. (NKJV)

At the close of Chapter 6, we see Moses struggling with the feeling that he cannot do what God has asked. He’s overcome by his own limitations. God’s response to this reluctance is to let Moses know that Pharaoh will see something different. In fact, Moses will become “like a god” to Pharaoh or someone he will fear greatly. If we are willing to obey God, He will do something similar for us. We may be afraid to step forward to help someone, thinking we are inadequate and might mess things up. But God will help them see the love in our heart—even if we can’t meet the highest standard of excellence. The point is to be unafraid to step out where God is leading, because what He sees and what others see will be quite different than what you think you see. He will use your efforts in ways that fulfill His purpose. After all, He has promised to empower you and be with you.
