Praying for Unbelievers

Read Hebrews 10:28-30 – Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” (NKJV)

There are some people who struggle with the fact that there are consequences for sin and the fact that God not only is a God of mercy but also judgment. We understand that the scripture teaches that unbelievers will die and will face God’s judgment. When praying for unbelievers, pray that they will have a healthy fear of judgment and death without God. While salvation is more than just a “ticket out of hell”, people do need to have a healthy fear of the consequences of dying without God in their lives. The Holy Spirit not only convinces people of the reality of Christ, but He will also convince people of the eternal consequences of dying without Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit will convince your unsaved friends.
