Read Genesis 18:16-19 – Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way. And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” (NKJV)
Isn’t it interesting that God wants to share His plans with those who trust in Him? Here Abraham is still reeling a bit from the promise of a son late in his life. But God wants to extend the conversation. He wants to reveal His plans for Sodom and Gomorrah, not because of Abraham’s family connection, but because God planned to make Abraham a great nation. God wants to reveal His will to His people. But those who live for themselves or only occasionally look for His direction have little reason to expect that He would confide in us. He will reveal His plan to those who pursue Him wholeheartedly. Clearly, those who long for God stand a much better chance of knowing His will than those who simply want their own way.
