Tuesdays with Abraham

Read Genesis 17:2-6 – “… And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you... ” (NKJV)

When we connect with God, everything changes. Here God demonstrates His gift of new life by giving Abram a new name and a new future. The childless disappointments of the past will no longer be Abram’s reality. He is now Abraham—father of a nation! Think about how God has changed your life. What new realities has He brought since you entered relationship with Him? Now, most of us don’t undergo a name change on our driver’s license when we discover Christ’s love, but most everything else changes. Certainly what we are known for is now under new construction. We are new creatures in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). The more you reflect on the transformation God is working in your life, the more reasons you will find to praise Him today. In fact, that sounds like a good way to spend a Tuesday!
