Read Nehemiah 13:29 – Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites. (NKJV)
Nehemiah had just made a bold stand in regards to maintaining moral purity and purity in worship. It is in that context that Nehemiah asks God to remember what those people had done to defile the priesthood and covenant. While Nehemiah removed some unqualified people from his presence he was leaving the “judgment” of those people to God. While God will always forgive the person with a repentant heart, in prayer we can turn those who do not repent over to God for Him to deal with and to judge as Nehemiah did.
