The Prayer Life of a Working Man

Read Nehemiah 9:26-27 – Nevertheless they were disobedient and rebelled against You, cast Your law behind their backs and killed Your prophets, who testified against them to turn them to Yourself; and they worked great provocations. Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who oppressed them; and in the time of their trouble, when they cried to You, You heard from heaven; and according to Your abundant mercies You gave them deliverers who saved them from the hand of their enemies. (NKJV)

This portion of Nehemiah’s prayer shows how God’s people turned against Him and did evil. Their sin was great and as punishment God delivered them into the hands of their enemies. But notice what happened when God’s people prayed – God heard them, was merciful to them and delivered them. Regardless of how much we have done wrong or how much we have sinned, when we cry out to God, He is still merciful. He will hear the prayer of the repentant heart and bring deliverance.
