Fundamental Truth: The Ordinances of the Church (Part 2)

Read Mark 16:16 – Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Baptism in Water - The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded by the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. Thus they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.

Why should you be baptized if you have been saved? One, it is an expression to all your old buddies that you are a new man. Two, it testifies of the saving grace and power to the world around you. Three, it is a command of the scripture; therefore it is an act of obedience to be baptized in water. As a new believer we are to live a life that is obedient to the desires of the Lord and the dictates of His Word.
