Read 2 Peter 1:21 – For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
“The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.”
The scriptures were given to us as the prophets were led by the Holy Spirit. They did not give prophecy based on their personal feelings or desires but by God's will and desire. Though they were human, they were moved on by the Holy Spirit. The scriptures trump any decree made by man. Never trust a person who says his word is a new revelation for today. God's Word is the scriptures! There is no new revelation needed. He gives us new illumination on His revelation of scripture but the revelation of the Word is sufficient for our life!
