Read Nehemiah 9:15 – You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger, and brought them water out of the rock for their thirst, and told them to go in to possess the land which You had sworn to give them. (NKJV)
As Nehemiah prayed he “reminded” God of what He had done for the people. God gave them food to eat, water to drink and promised to give them a new land. God told them to possess the land. The word “possess” means to occupy. The only way they could occupy the land was to drive out the inhabitants. Prayer is not a substitute for working. Prayer enhances our work. Prayer helps us “possess” the promises that God has given to us.
