The Prayer Life of a Working Man

Read Nehemiah 9:13-14 – You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them just ordinances and true laws, Good statutes and commandments. You made known to them Your holy Sabbath, And commanded them precepts, statutes and laws, By the hand of Moses Your servant.”  (NKJV)

As Nehemiah continued his prayer he acknowledged that God had given good commands and laws to His people.  Notice the deliberate use of the word “good”.  God’s commands and laws are for our benefit.  They are motivated by His love and concern for us.  When we pray we can be confident that whatever answer God gives to us in prayer, even if it is a “no”, it is for our benefit and is good for us.  Once I understand this principle I can confidently approach God in prayer about anything I am facing.
