Men of Character

Read Exodus 3:4 – When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am."

Moses’ desire was to be faithful to God. So great was this desire that he did the right thing, the wrong way. He took a man’s life for hurting one of God’s children. He found himself banished to a wilderness for forty years away from the God he wanted so badly to serve. Yet, one day from a bush burning in the desert, he heard the voice of the Lord. His response to that voice was, “Here am I!” Those forty years in the desert were the training ground for the next forty years of his life. His faithfulness in the lonely desert was the qualifier for the best years of his life. The lesson to us is to be faithful to God even when you have failed. Be faithful to God when you land in a desert alone and silenced from the voice and activities of God. Your faithfulness is being measured there for a possibly greater stage tomorrow.
