Read Nehemiah 5:19 – Remember me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people. (NKJV)
In the governmental role that Nehemiah held, he was responsible for feeding a large group of people. Normally this expense would have been covered by taxing the people. Nehemiah felt the people were already heavily taxed so he covered the expense out of his own personal funds rather than add more taxes. His prayer was simply to put the matter in God’s hands and let God reward him. Remember that God sees all the good you do. Talk to Him about the needs that come into your own life because of the good you have done for others. Let God reward you from His resources.
