The Prayer Life of the Working Man

Read Nehemiah 2:4-5 – Then the king said to me, "What do you request?" So I prayed to the God of heaven. And I said to the king, "If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' tombs, that I may rebuild it." (NKJV)

Nehemiah was busy serving the king. He was a man on the job. The king sensed something was wrong and asked Nehemiah a question. Before Nehemiah responded, he sent up a short, silent prayer to God. His prayer was probably less than five seconds long. The working man can pray throughout the day. It doesn’t have to be lengthy and it can be silent. It doesn’t require a special atmosphere. We don’t know the nature of his request but we do know he prayed. You can talk to God while you are at work. Ask for His help, wisdom and favor. Ask Him to bless your business or place of employment.
