The Prayer Life of a Working Man

Read Nehemiah 1:8-9 – Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, 'If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name. (NKJV)

Nehemiah understood that the exile God’s people experienced came because of their disobedience to God. But he also understood that God had promised that when His people walk in obedience to the Word, that God would bring them back (Deut. 30:2-5). Nehemiah was praying God’s Word. He was praying God’s promise back to God. One of the most powerful ways a working man can pray is to use God’s Word in prayer. Praying God’s Word is a great way to “learn” to pray. Plus, as you pray the Word your faith will increase. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word (Rom. 10:17).
