Read Nehemiah 1:7 – We have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, nor the ordinances which You commanded Your servant Moses. (NKJV)
Nehemiah understood the important role that repentance plays in prayer. God is ALWAYS open to the prayer of a repentant heart. I find it interesting that Nehemiah confessed the sins of the nation. He did not say “they”, he said “we”. Nehemiah was probably one of those who had stayed true to God and yet in his petition he included himself in that group who had disobeyed God. We need men like Nehemiah who will call out to God in repentance and confess the sins of our nation. What would happen if men around the nation began to pray like Nehemiah? That would be a Prayer Force that could start a true revival.
