Know When to Be Silent and When to Speak Up (Part 2)

Read Titus 2:6-8 – Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.

There are times when a man with character has to speak up for what is right. This is even harder when the person who is wrong is someone you respect and love. But even those we love can be wrong. A sound word is a valuable treasure. Tragically, you may find that your friend is upset with you for speaking the truth. But if you are a man of character you will always choose the truth over friendship. Believe me, you will not lose a true friend over taking a stand for what is right. Both silence and sound speech help to create a man of character. Just be sure that you do both of them at the right time.
