For the Less Fortunate

Read James 1:27 – Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James is an action person. He expresses his faith by letting his faith work. Faith that does not change the lives of others is really not something that matters. If our faith is real it will drive us to meet the needs of other people. Nowhere is that need more noticeable than in the widows and the orphans of our communities. A religion that is too busy for the less fortunate is a religion that is too busy. If we are too big for those who are small in our communities then we are too big for God.
