Isaiah 50:10

Scripture:

Isaiah 50:10 “Who is among you that fears the Lord, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.” (NASB)

Observation:

Having a rookie on your crew teaches not only the rookie things, but those in leadership as well. While working a late night fire, the rookie wanted to do his own thing. I knew that what he wanted was dangerous and would put his life in jeopardy. I had to hold him back and teach him why it was wrong. When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, part of His response was that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. For many of us, letting go of our will and accepting God’s will is difficult. We always think that our way is right; and there is a distant second idea that could possibly work, but our way is just better for us. Pride hurts our chances of letting God’s will be done. There are many reasons we do not let go of our will, but pray with me that our eyes will be open to the area in our life that keeps us from letting God’s will be done.

Application:

  • Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
  • Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
