Hebrews 13:4

Scripture:

Hebrews 13:4 “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” (ESV)

Observation:

I remember the conversation well, we were both uncomfortable with the topic. It was the “birds and bees” conversation with my father, where I learned about sex. The sad part was that I had learned far earlier from the “street”. Today’s verse speaks about the marriage bed, how it is to be undefiled! Too many men have learned about sex from the wrong teachers. It’s not a subject that was talked about around the dinner table or even from the pulpit at our churches, so our view of things was not a godly one. Because of the lack of discussions about sex, we men have beliefs that aren’t godly in nature. We can go on believing the what worlds says about sexuality or we can go to His Word and find out what God says about it. I pray that through the study you will have a better understanding about sex, and you’ll find the courage to talk to your children (current and future) about God’s view of sexuality.

Application:

• Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love. 
• Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
