Scripture:
2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance (NASB).
Observation:
OK ready, switch... we traded positions as we performed CPR on a first aid call we responded to. The woman had stopped breathing and was in serious trouble as we waited for the paramedics to arrive to take her to the hospital. With each compression and with each breath, we waited. It seemed like forever, but we continued. Sometimes what we do while we wait can be the difference between life and death. It doesn't help to count the minutes or seconds but what matters is that we do what needs to be done while we wait. Today's scripture shares that the Lord is not slow about His promise, but sometimes when we pray we want that "instant" answer. Maybe He's teaching us patience as we wait. Eventually the paramedics came and so will His answer - keep on keeping on as we wait.
Application:
- Personal Application: Continue spending time with the Lord daily. Sow righteousness and reap the fruit of God's unfailing love.
- Family Devotional: Read this chapter to your family. Ask them if anything spoke to them as you read. Talk about their answers and show them that one important aspect of this chapter is that we must continue to spend time with the Lord and keep our hearts focused on His plans and purposes. Pray for them.
