Read Nehemiah 9:32-33 – Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy: do not let all the trouble seem small before You that has come upon us, our kings and our princes, our priests and our prophets, our fathers and on all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until this day. However You are just in all that has befallen us; for You have dealt faithfully, but we have done wickedly. (NKJV)
Nehemiah makes three confessions in this portion of his prayer. He confessed God as great and awesome. He confessed God as just in dealing with His people, even if it meant judgment. He confessed God as faithful, even when His people were unfaithful and sinned. It is in that context that Nehemiah asks God to be mindful of the trouble that His people were experiencing. Even though God is great, He is still aware of our problems. In other words, no problem is too small for us to bring to God in prayer. He still will listen even though He is the Great, Mighty and Awesome God.
